If you ask Dr. Maria Isabel Atique Rojas what lights her up, she’ll tell you: helping people feel confident, healthy, and empowered — one smile at a time. With over 25 years of experience, she blends science, technology, and heart to deliver care.
Since beginning her orthodontic career in 1998, Dr. Atique has embraced a progressively holistic approach to care. She looks beyond just straightening teeth — addressing airway health, facial development, and overall well-being. Her philosophy is modern, patient-centered, and rooted in continuous learning. A lifelong learner committed to staying at the forefront of her field, Dr. Atique collaborates closely with ENTs, general dentists, myofunctional therapists, and other specialists to deliver comprehensive, personalized care that supports long-term health and confidence.
Originally from Venezuela, Dr. Atique earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the Central University of Venezuela in 1993. She then moved to Philadelphia to complete her orthodontic specialty training at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1997. Early in her career, she practiced alongside her mother — also an orthodontist — which shaped her deep commitment to excellence and compassionate care.
Dr. Atique is proudly board-certified by the American Board of Orthodontics and actively involved in several professional associations, including:

In 2008, Dr. Atique and her husband, Jose H. Rojas, founded Atique Orthodontics in San Antonio. What began as a dream is now a thriving, trusted practice with a dedicated team of skilled orthodontic assistants and support staff. In 2023, they moved into a brand-new, at 21202 Market Ridge — a space designed to reflect their core values: comfort, innovation, and exceptional care.
Outside the office, Dr. Atique is a proud mom to Daniel, a marketing professional, and Diego, a college student at UT Austin. When she’s not working, you’ll find her cycling, traveling, or enjoying time with her family — always bringing the same passion and energy to life that she brings to her work.
